Old Camper

We did it!  We finally got our new camper!  It is an Adventurer 85WS and it has everything that our old camper was missing.  It has a shower (and thus a HOT water heater), electric jacks, an air conditioner and an oven.  It also has the extended cabover so there is no more crawling over each other to get out of the bed in the middle of the night.

The new camper isn't that much bigger than the old one, but it has way more storage.  Even after we put everything from the old camper into the new one, there was still room for more stuff!  We put our experience to good use and invested in some great accessories too.  These are the accessories that we added to the camper:

  • An Awning - No more schlepping around the gazebo tent.  That means more room for other stuff!
  • A Satellite Dish - Why not!  We already have satellite at home, so we just need to bring the kitchen TV and receiver.
  • Scissor Steps - These will come in handy when the camper is on the truck.
  • Vent Covers - Now we can open the roof vents without worrying about it raining in.

Even though we think that the new camper is great, we couldn't resist making some changes.!  Yes, we have already started making modifications to the camper!!  The first things that we did were small - installing a magazine rack, a spice rack and a TV mounting bracket.  Just recently, we got a bit more adventurous and we built bedside tables with built-in storage in the strange little nooks in the cabover!  We think it is a great use of what was otherwise wasted space!

Our second project was to build an entertainment center to store the satellite box, dvd player and DVDs.  Like with the bedside tables, we used melamine shelving to build it.  It is sturdy and it is almost a perfect match with what they used to make the rest of the cabinets in the camper.

Our next project will be to replace the standard plastic light fixtures with some more attractive brushed nickel ones.  Those will match the rest of the hardware in the camper.
